TB Flowtones Virtual Analog Synthesizer is a powerful tool for sound creation. Thanks to its true VA synthesis engine, analog-modeled filters, and extensive modulation options, Flowtones differentiates itself by providing a warmer and more analog sound compared to digital romplers and wavetable-based synthesizers.
Offered both as a stand-alone app with IAA support and as an AUv3/ IAA plugin, TB Flowtones boasts an impressive array of features:
- Four VCO architecture with two voice layers and two VCOs each
- Four synthesis engine types modeled after renowned analog synthesizers
- 36 analog VCO waveforms including classic and custom variations
- Pulse width modulation for all VCO waveforms
- Full stereo and mono unison modes for each VCO individually
- Noise and subharmonic oscillators per VCO
- Ring and self-modulation matrix for unique sound design
- High-quality non-linear filters (VCF) with over 30 filter types
The modulation features of TB Flowtones are equally robust:
- Four LFOs with 30 waveforms each
- Cross-modulation capabilities between LFOs
- Three envelope generators with key velocity modulation
- Hundreds of modulation signal paths available
In addition to its synthesis capabilities, Flowtones includes professional-grade effects like studio reverb, delay, chorus, formant filter, distortion, bit crushing effects, equalizer, peak limiter, and a non-linear power supply simulation for an authentic analog experience.
The step sequencer in TB Flowtones is intuitive and versatile:
- Fully integrated step sequencer with chord and note series triggers
- Option to run asynchronously or synchronously to the host
- Smart copy/paste functionality for efficient workflow
The app also provides a broad range of presets and an intelligent randomizer for endless sound design possibilities. However, there are some important considerations to keep in mind when using TB Flowtones:
- Inter-App Audio (IAA) limitations require AUv3 hosting for multiple instances
- Licenses purchased for one platform are not transferable
- Audio Unit (AUv3) support necessitates iPad mini 2, iPad 4, or newer models
